If your company still uses a traditional phone system, the kind that lives in a cabinet full of cables, you’ve probably already noticed its limits: every change requires a technician, working outside the office is impossible and the long-distance bill shows no mercy.
IP telephony solves that, and Yeastar phone systems have become our main recommendation for small businesses. This is what changes in practice.
The phone system stops being a box and becomes a service
With an IP phone system, extensions live on the data network, not on dedicated phone wiring. Adding a new extension is a matter of configuration, not cabling. And if your company grows or moves, the phone system moves with you.
The office phone, anywhere
Each extension can be answered from the desk phone, a mobile app or the computer. A salesperson on the road answers as if they were at their desk, with the company number — not their personal mobile. For companies with staff out in the field, this alone justifies the change.
Lower communication costs
Calls between branches and remote extensions travel over the company network, so they are internal and don’t generate call charges, even when they are in different provinces. For long distance, savings depend on the trunk provider and each company’s call volume: that is why we calculate it with your real numbers during the assessment, before recommending the change.
Features that used to be for “big companies”
- Auto attendant (“press 1 for sales, 2 for support”)
- Call recording
- Voicemail delivered to email
- Call reports by extension
- CRM integration to see who’s calling before you answer
On a Yeastar system these features are enabled through software according to the license plan, without buying additional equipment; during the assessment we tell you which plan covers what your company needs.
What if the Internet goes down?
It’s the obvious question. The right answer is design: with redundant links (something we recommend for any company anyway) and forwarding rules, a failure at the main provider doesn’t leave anyone unreachable. Yeastar systems also support backup analog lines during the transition.
Migrating doesn’t hurt
A well-planned migration is done in phases: the new phone system runs alongside the traditional one for a few weeks, keeping your numbers is coordinated with your phone provider, and staff learn the basics in a short training session.
At SYSCOM we are a Yeastar partner. If you’d like to know how much it would cost to migrate your phone system, write to us and we’ll give you a no-obligation assessment.
