Buying equipment is not just comparing prices
Many small businesses in Costa Rica buy computers when one breaks, at whatever store is closest and with whatever configuration happens to be available that day. Over the years, the office ends up with equipment of different brands, ages and systems, some overpowered for what they do and others that can no longer keep up. Each one is set up and repaired differently, and that is paid for in support time and lost hours.
At SYSCOM we have served businesses since 2001 and we see this pattern often. That is why our computer equipment sales for businesses start with a simple question: what will it be used for? The answer drives the recommendation, not the most expensive model in the catalog.
Advice and standardization
We work with brands such as Dell, HP and Lenovo for computers and servers, APC for power backup, and Xiaomi and Microsoft for other devices and accessories. On that basis we help you define profiles: what an administrative role needs, what an area handling large files needs and what works best for people who work outside the office.
Standardizing means that devices within the same profile are identical or very similar. That way, setting up a new computer takes less time, problems repeat less often and are solved faster, and planning the next refresh is simpler. Warranties are the manufacturer’s: we handle the claim and, when the supplier requires the client to do it, we guide you. For managed services clients we take care of the entire process, because we act as part of your team.
Equipment configured and ready
A new computer that hasn’t been set up is one more problem for the manager. That is why we can deliver equipment prepared and connected to the company network, so the employee can start working without waiting. For clients with a contract this setup is included; for others it is quoted separately. If your company already has our IT support or a managed services plan, the new equipment is added to the service you already receive, with tickets in the Soporte Digital portal and according to your contract.
The same applies to servers: more than a box with disks, a server needs to be configured for the way it will be used and have a backup strategy. We offer Dell, HP and Lenovo servers, and server and backup setup is quoted separately. If you’re interested in the topic, you can read about the 3-2-1 backup rule.
Power backup so you don’t lose work
A power cut or a voltage fluctuation can suddenly shut down a computer or a server in the middle of a task. A UPS, or power backup, keeps equipment running for a few minutes during a blackout and protects it from power surges. That time is enough to save documents and shut down servers in an orderly way, avoiding corrupted files and equipment that won’t turn back on. We help you work out which UPS you need based on the equipment to protect, whether it’s a workstation, the network rack or the office server in San José or anywhere in the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM).
