From “call when something breaks” to an external IT department
For years, the most common way to handle technology in a small or medium-sized business has been reactive: the printer stops working, email doesn’t arrive or the network goes down, and someone looks for a technician. This model, known as break-fix, has two problems. First, by the time the technician arrives, operations have already stopped. Second, each incident is billed separately, so technology spending is impossible to budget.
At SYSCOM Soporte Digital we know that model first-hand: that is how we started in 2001. Over the years we saw that our clients didn’t need more emergency visits, but someone to take care of their technology on an ongoing basis. That is why we evolved toward managed IT services, also known as MSP (managed service provider), which today are the core of our work with businesses in Costa Rica.
What having a managed plan means
A managed services plan works like an external IT department. Instead of waiting for you to call, we watch your equipment and network, perform preventive maintenance and handle your staff’s requests. All for a monthly fee agreed according to the size and needs of your operation.
The most important difference is accountability. With a managed plan there is a single provider who knows your infrastructure: what equipment you have, how the network is configured, what changes have been made and why. That information is documented, so decisions no longer depend on one person’s memory.
Your users report cases in the Soporte Digital ticket portal, where each request is logged with its history. That way you know what was requested, what was done and what is pending, without relying on scattered messages.
Plans tailored to your operation
Not every company needs the same thing. A small office in San José doesn’t have the same requirements as a company with several locations. That is why every contract is customized: standard service hours are Monday to Friday during office hours, and some plans include extended hours and a guaranteed 2-hour response for those who can’t afford to wait.
On-site service is provided within the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM), and remote support covers the whole country, which makes it possible to support branches in other provinces without travel. If your company already has IT staff, we can provide second-level support instead of replacing them; and if you need a permanent presence, we can assign one of our technicians full-time at your office.
What changes for your business
With a managed plan, technology stops being a source of surprises. Small problems are handled before they become outages, the monthly cost can be budgeted and you gain time to focus on your business. Having served more than 70 companies, we know that the greatest value of monthly IT support for businesses is not putting out fires, but keeping them from starting.
